4 Tips for Adapting Employee Recognition Programs to the Virtual Workplace

In our new virtual (post-pandemic) workspace world it has become challenging to recognize remote staff for their professional achievements!  Here are some tips to try to re-engage and recognize your employees:

  1. Leverage social media and digital tools.  You don’t have to wait until the end of the year to have an award ceremony!  Recognize those accomplishments in real time with social media!
  2. Customize your rewards – one of the current trends we’re noticing is to adopt a more customized digital experience and let employees curate their gift digitally.  This can be as simple as an employee choosing coffee or tea, for example!   Have options for your employees to choose from.
  3. Encourage peer recognition.  Recognition from colleagues and from other team members can make a real difference  – celebrate individual and team success.  Kudos from team members can go a long way.
  4. ASK employees what they want – seems way too simple, but it really is!  Let employees share with you what they find important or meaningful to them.
